SAV supplies CHP and HIUs to Woodside Square development

SAV Systems is to supply three LoadTracker CHP units, 137 Series 7 & 23 Series 3 Danfoss FlatStation heat interface units, to the Woodside Square residential development in Muswell Hill, London. SAV was specified by J S Wright, which has been appointed lead design and co-ordination contractor for mechanical and plumbing services by developer Hill.

Located on the site of St Luke’s Hospital, which closed in 2011, the Woodside Square development will see the construction of 161 mixed-tenure apartment in a combination of purpose-built and existing Grade II listed buildings.

The three SAV LoadTracker XRGI 20 units will be installed in a central energy centre serving the heating and domestic hot water systems for the site, as well as generating electrical power. The ability of LoadTracker units to track loads and modulate accordingly will ensure that CHP run-times are maximised and use of back-up heat sources is minimised, thereby increasing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

Rented apartments will be fitted with Danfoss 7 Series FlatStation heat interface units, each equipped with an integral energy meter to provide consumption data for billing of heat for domestic hot water and heating. A key role of the FlatStations will be to deliver consistent heating and hot water by compensating for variations in supply temperatures, differential pressures and loads in the system.

In addition, the design of the Danfoss FlatStations ensures that low return water temperatures are achieved, underpinning optimum efficiency of the heat network system.
