On Thursday 24 April, SAV brought together industry experts and local authorities in our office in Edinburgh for a powerful day of discussion, learning, and first-hand onsite experience, exploring how low-carbon heat can be delivered at scale and made accessible for communities across Scotland.

A Look Behind the Scenes
Before the symposium, Vattenfall kindly hosted a guided visit to the MEL heat network, including:
Shawfair Energy Centre: a flagship example of low-carbon energy generation, where smart controls and efficient systems are at work
Craighall Village: a new community being supplied with sustainable heat through this innovative network
Led by SAV Systems and supported by Vattenfall Heat UK, the visit offered a hands-on look at how collaboration, technology, and local delivery come together to future-proof heat for real homes and residents.
Big Ideas and Bold Conversations
In the afternoon, we welcomed guests to the CIBSE Heat Network Symposium at our office Manor Place.
There were expert talks on heat network design, updates on incoming regulations, and how to improve resident experience when being part of a heat network.
There was also a lively panel discussion with industry leaders, and a networking to round off the day.
