The extremely high energy demands of this building meant that, to comply with mandatory building regulations, a highly energy efficient means of producing heat and power was required to supply site demand.
Summary of site demand
Annual electricity demand…………………………………………….…430,578 kWh
Electricity price for 88% of site electricity consumption……………………………………………………………….11.5667 p/kWh
Electricity price for 12% of site electricity consumption………………………………………………………………..10.3362 p/kWh
Heat demand……………………………………………………………..…….186,071 kWh
Gas consumption…………………………………………………….……….232,589 kWh
Gas price for 88% of site gas consumption…………………..3.1208 p/kWh
Gas price for 12% of site gas consumption……………….….2.7888 p/kWh
Supplied and installed one 15kWe/ 30kWth LoadTracker CHP units able to supplying 92% of site heating and hot water demand and 20% of electrical demand.
30 tonnes of CO2 emissions could be reduced by installing a CHP system relative to a conventional mains supply/ gas boiler system.
This is an equivalent 10% reduction of CO2 emissions.
2.0 Carbon Footprint of Project User Centre.
The use of LoadTracker CHP would result in annual savings of £6,941 relative to a conventional mains supply/ boiler system.
This is equivalent to saving 12% on energy bills.
