What you need to know

Each Pt40 consists of a pre-settable valve with integral differential pressure control and a snap-on thermostatic actuator measuring room temperature.

Rt40 consists of a pre-settable valve with integral differential pressure control and a thermostatic actuator measuring towel rail’s return temperature.

Integral differential pressure control gives Pt40 & Rt40 a valve authority of 1.

Pt40 & Rt40 valves have been designed to minimise installation risk and optimise the performance of heat networks, in accordance with the compliance requirements of CIBSE Heat Networks: Code of Practice for the UK (2015).

Features

Differential pressure control

Regardless of fluctuations of inlet pressure, flow remains constant for any given valve position. It means that heat release is steady, even for systems with variable speed pumps. Pt40 & Rt40s make the balancing of radiator circuits far easier than when using fixed opening radiator valves.

Modulating TRV control

The bellows in Pt40 thermostats are gas-filled and have faster response time than wax or fluid-filled types. With increasing room temperature, the sensor gas expands rapidly and pushes the control valve cone down towards the seat, thus reducing flow. As the room cools, it is the setting spring which pulls the valve cone back up again.

Return temperature control

Rt40 pre-settable and pressure independent return temperature limiting valves are used for towel rails. A simple lockshield valve is installed on the towel rail inlet and the Rt40 is installed on the outlet side.

Bypass prevention

By ensuring that pressure surges do not result in higher flows, Pt40 & Rt40 valves effectively prevent unwanted temperatures from reaching the return lines. This is an essential part of return temperature control, which is significant to overall system efficiency. Bypass prevention is a key Commissioning Requirement 5.1.5 of the CIBSE / ADE Heat Networks : Code of Practice for the UK (CP1 – 2015).
