Maddalena Water Meters from SAV Systems
As time goes by, the value of water can only increase, as will the importance of accurate flow measurement. That’s why every water meter made by Maddalena is verified on a certified test bench.

Valves undergoing test are placed in series, with flow calculated electronically by using a collecting vessel on scales. Testing is carried out on valves between 15 and 200 mm bore, with verification at 3 key flow rates:
Qmin (minimum flow) = The lowest flow rate at which meter accuracy is within permitted error.
Qt (transitional flow) = Where accurate measurement begins.
Qmax (maximum flow) = The highest flow rate at which meter accuracy is within permitted error.
Maddalena make every effort to ensure that you can have full confidence in their water meters. We want you to be in the best position possible when it comes to justifying your choice of water measurement, and that you can count on expertise in depth from a leading ISO 9001 certified European manufacturer. Here are a few features by Maddalena that you might have been unaware of:
Sealed Registers with protected dial multi-jet meter
When counter mechanisms on a water meter are enclosed in a hydraulically separate chamber, it means that the counter discs remain unaffected by adverse water quality. Over long operating periods, the meter will continue to provide crystal clear readings regardless of hardness, scaling or suspended particles.
Multijet Water Meters
The impeller on a multi-jet water meter is rotated by flow water directed from several points. This ensures that the load on the impeller is distributed evenly. Accuracy of measurement is retained over longer service life that is the case for single jet meters. However, where a project needs to be value-engineered, Maddalena can offer single jet meters of surpisingly good quality.

Woltmann Meters
Woltmann water meters have been around for some 200 years, and are based on a helix type impeller.
Maddalena can arrange to set the helix axially to the flow pipe, or at 90° to flow direction. Axial versions are suitable for large diameter pipework (up to 500mm), whereas 90° versions can be specified down to 50mm. Where necessary, Woltmann meters for hot water applications can be made suitable for 90°, or pressures up to 40 bar.

Combination Water Meters
- A Woltmann axial helix acting as primary meter
- A multi-jet meter acting as secondary meter for lower flows
Both meters are enclosed in parallel on the same mounting plate. An internal diverter valve directs the flow to whichever meter is appropriate to the flow rate. This means that a combination meter can measure an extremely wide range of flow rates : from minimum on the secondary meter up to maximum on the primary meter. It is therefore suitable for applications involving large pipelines with high variations in flow rate, such as swimming pools, hospitals and fire-fighting installations.
