SAV Systems has supplied Danfoss FlatStation heat interface units (HIUs), fitted with Danfoss Sonometer energy meters, to 246 apartments constructed by Bellway Homes at the new Barking Riverside development in Essex.

SAV’s Danfoss FlatStation HIUs were specified by consulting engineers Kaizenge following rigorous witness trials at SAV’s premises to prove performance.

Heating and domestic hot water for the apartments is supplied from air source heat pumps in a central energy centre and controlled by a 7 Series FlatStation in each apartment.

The FlatStations ensure that heating and hot water supplies remain consistent by compensating for any variation in loads, supply temperatures and different pressures. They also maintain a high temperature differential between flow and return water temperatures to achieve low primary temperatures to facilitate optimum efficiency of the central heating plant.

Integral Danfoss Sonometer compact energy meters provide consumption data for billing and energy monitoring purposes.

Barking Riverside is a brand new neighbourhood being created along 2km of Thames river frontage through a joint venture between the Greater London Authority and Bellway Homes. The development will eventually provide 10,800 mixed-use homes on the former power station site, along with commercial and retail space, healthcare, schools and a new rail station.
